15 Inspiring LGBT Milspouse Blog Posts You Need to Read

Things have changed recently in the past few years regarding same-sex marriage which is now legal in all 50 states of the United States. However, sometimes it can still feel like as a LGBTQ  military spouse you can feel alone or isolated. Back in 2015 I didn’t see very many LGBT military spouse websites.

I was inspired by the LGBT websites I was able to find like www.militarypartners.org and www.milpfc.org.

The Military Partners and Families Coalition  Mission was simple:

Based in Washington, DC, the Military Partners and Families Coalition (MPFC) was founded in 2011 to provide support, resources, education and advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender military families. We do this by providing online resources, education and training to those who support the military community, outreach and support through safe space online events and local in-person community events, and by connecting with other military support organizations and agencies that share the civic responsibility to support all military families.

And more inspiration was found when I learned about The American Military Partner Association with more than 50,000 members and supporters across the country and around the world, the AMPA is the nation’s largest organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) military families and their allies.

Their Mission was simple as well :

Connecting, supporting, honoring, and serving the partners, spouses, families, and allies of America’s LGBT service members and veterans – our “modern military families.

So, I decided to create my own website. I set to work to make connections on various military spouse websites to bring my voice closer for others to hear. I wanted a changed, so I made a change.  I understand life isn’t always fair you have to stand up for what you believe in. Not everyone agrees with same-sex marriage and I am okay with that. I feel everyone is entitled to their beliefs as well as their freedoms.

I wanted to see more LGBTQ military blog posts and share my story. I am so thankful for all the support and love I have received from the military spouse community as a whole whether in person or online. Everyone I met has been respective and supportive of my family; my wife and I. Although, we may be different, a same-sex couple, we still face the same things any other military family faces.
