5 Ways to Motivate Yourself When Military Life Gets Tough

How do you motivate yourself to keep going when things get tough? Its easy to get caught up in the cycle of giving up and then not trying basically its easier to give up and find an excuse than to put in the work and power though. I know I am guilty of giving up sometimes I believe everyone from time to time gets fed up or frustrated and then jobs stops whatever it is they are aiming to accomplish. When your spouse is in the military sometimes its gets tiring holding the whole world up so it won’t fall down. Then when you add in deployments and life alternating situations it can be tough to keep going to reach your goals whether personal, family, career, education goals.

Find your why

There are times in life when you feel as if you don’t know where to start or how to begin. Situations can arise that cripple you emotionally or just make you feel completely numb. You are going to have good days and bad days and that’s okay. Look for the things that bring you joy and make you feel human again. Hold on to what gives you strength.

Be Present

There is no point in worrying about tomorrow or wishing that past had when differently. Look at what you have in front of you. Are you happy? Do you like what you see? If the answer is no thing change it. Be present in your life and realize some things take time to happen or develop. Focus on the hear and now and enjoy your coffee.

Don’t Give Up

Sometimes life can be hard no matter how proactive you try and be.  The main key is to stay motivated is to keep going even if you fall. Whether they’re trying to keep up with routines or housework or school or work you can’t give up. Push through whatever is aggravating you and find peace with what is causing you stress. It might feel impossible to deal with small challenges life surprises you with but dig deep and find courage to overcome it.

Think positive

Looking at the big picture its important to stay positive. How do you think positive to stay positive? The main thing is to realize difficult times are only temporary and won’t last forever. Find ways to make your heart glad. Do things you love like cozy up and read a book,  get dolled up to go shopping, call someone you have been meaning to connect with. Basically, do whatever makes you joyful do that. If you feel helping your family or community brings you joy do that.

Relax

Take time for yourself to care for yourself. Breathe. Yes, breathe. Let all your worries and stress fall away for a little bit each day. Find ways where you can  unwind and distress. It could be as simple as taking a cat nap, binge watching your favorite show on Netflix or even just enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. The best thing to do to stay motivated is to be at peace. There is no time like the present that way you can enjoy your life. Love yourself, love you life, and love your world.
