Do you know how powerful the Bill of Rights Is?

Our spouses fight to uphold and defend the Constitution with their lives. Today, our spouse help to defend our Bill of Rights. What does that mean to you and your family? I feel that its important to understand what our spouses truly fight for when they defend our country.

The Constitution was constructed over 229 years ago becoming the supreme law of the land in America. Each architect of the Constitution from Thomas Jefferson to John Adams realized enough was enough and the new land would bring a new law.

The Anti-Federalist also realized enough was enough and John Madison introduced 39 amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America to ensure personal freedoms and limit the reach of the federal government. On September 25, 1789 a year after the Constitution was the law of the land 12 new amendments  had been adopted to the Constitution. Later these the first 10 amendments became known as the Bill of Rights.

Today is Bills of Rights Day. What is the purpose of having a day dedicated to the Bill of Rights. If you look at what the Bill of Rights is, its a document giving American citizens rights that in the old world didn’t give its people. America became a land of the free and brave.

Here is quick list of the Bill of Rights:

The Bill of Rights includes these Amendments:

Amendment 1– Freedom of speech, press and religion

Amendment 2 – The right to bear arms

Amendment 3– Protection of homeowners from quartering troops, except during war.

Amendment 4 – Rights and protections against unreasonable search and seizure

Amendment 5 – Rights of due process of law, protection against double jeopardy, self incrimination

Amendment 6 – Rights of a speedy trial by jury of peers and rights of accused

Amendment 7 – Rights to trial by jury in civil cases

Amendment 8 – Protection from cruel and unusual punishment, excessive bail

Amendment 9 – Protection of rights not specified in the Bill of Rights

Amendment 10 – States rights, power of the states

I believe the bill of rights united and brought together a generation of people and still ensures the rights of American’s today. Let us thank our brave servicemen and woman in the military who ensure our rights are upheld on a federal and state level.
